The pottery in Hódmezővásárhely is not just famous for being one of the pottery centre in the country, but it is unique that the potters formed 3 different kinds of style.
The potters in „Tabán” district were called „tarkás” or „sárgás”. –They used lots of different coloured glazes, typical the black and brown base with special decoration, they liked the bird motifs the best. -The masters of the „Csúcs” district used blue glaze on white base. This style was formed  in the 1880’s for the design of the  porcelan pots spreading all over Western Europe. -The potters of the „Újváros” district kept the green colour of  the old ceramics, which can be seen on their jugs made by them and decorated with yellow-green flower pattern.
